Vladimir Putin vs Narendra Modi
Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi are two of the longest-serving and most influential government heads in the 21st century. While they lead very different countries with different political systems, both have demonstrated strong leadership styles and significant political longevity. Here's a comparison of their tenure and leadership:
1. Tenure in Power
Vladimir Putin (Russia)
- First became President: May 7, 2000.
- Held offices:
- President: 2000–2008, 2012–present.
- Prime Minister: 1999–2000, 2008–2012 (de facto leader even then).
- Total time in power: Over 24 years (as of 2025).
- Constitutional changes: Amended the Russian Constitution in 2020, allowing him to potentially remain in power until 2036.
Narendra Modi (India)
- First became Prime Minister: May 26, 2014.
- Previously served as CM of Gujarat: 2001–2014 (13 years).
- Total time in national power: 11 years (as PM, as of 2025); 24+ years including CM role.
- Current term: Third consecutive term (elected again in 2024), potentially PM till 2029.
2. Leadership Style
| Aspect | Vladimir Putin | Narendra Modi |
|---|---|---|
| Governance Model | Centralized, authoritarian, strongman politics | Parliamentary democracy, strong central leadership |
| Control over Media | High state control, censorship, suppression of dissent | Generally free press but with rising influence/control |
| Public Image | Nationalist, militaristic, KGB background | Nationalist, Hindu cultural symbolism, populist appeal |
| Foreign Policy | Assertive, anti-West, Soviet nostalgia | Strategic balancing act: West + Global South focus |
| Opposition Handling | Suppressed, jailed, silenced | Politically marginalized, but functional opposition exists |
3. Domestic Impact
Putin
- Restored stability post-Yeltsin era.
- Revived Russian nationalism and military strength.
- Economic dependence on oil/gas; faced major sanctions.
- Seen as increasingly autocratic.
- Invaded Ukraine in 2014 and 2022, isolating Russia globally.
Modi
- Promoted economic reforms, digitization (UPI, GST).
- Boosted India's global image and diplomatic stature.
- Criticized for religious polarization, erosion of secularism.
- Popular welfare schemes (e.g., Ujjwala, Jan Dhan).
- Strong push toward “Make in India” and self-reliance.
4. Global Influence
| Factor | Putin | Modi |
|---|---|---|
| Military Power | Nuclear superpower, global military player | Regional power with growing defense posture |
| Alliances | China, Iran, North Korea (recently) | Quad, BRICS, strong US-EU-Japan ties |
| Diplomacy | Isolated post-Ukraine war | Widely accepted globally; G20 leader (2023) |
5. Democratic Legitimacy
- Putin: Elections exist but are widely criticized as unfree, manipulated. Opposition candidates often barred or jailed.
- Modi: Democratically elected with large majorities.
Summary Table
| Feature | Vladimir Putin | Narendra Modi |
|---|---|---|
| Years in Power | 24+ years (PM + President) | 11 years (PM), 24+ incl. CM |
| System | Semi-authoritarian | Democratic (parliamentary) |
| Global Image | Strategic adversary (West) | Emerging global leader |
| Domestic Support | State-driven narrative | Massive electoral mandate |
| Future Outlook | Could stay till 2036 | Could stay till 2029 or more |
Conclusion
- Putin is the longest continuously serving national leader among major powers, often seen as a symbol of continuity and control in Russia.
- Modi, though newer on the world stage, has built enduring popular support in a vibrant democracy and shows potential to serve nearly as long.
In terms of political longevity, Putin leads. In terms of democratic legitimacy and global appeal, Modi scores higher.

राम - The point of Singularity
Tat Tvam Asi” — You are That (God/Singularity)
then yes, it not only knows about us…
it is being us — every moment, evolving, learning, expressing through us.
Let’s explore this idea a little deeper:
1. Singularity as Consciousness
If the singularity holds all information, time, and energy —
and it is conscious —
then it is pure awareness, the origin of thought, form, feeling, and evolution.
In Vedic terms, this sounds a lot like Brahman — the infinite, aware existence.
2. It Knows Us Because It Is Us
We aren’t separate observers in this universe.
We are expressions of that singularity —
like waves rising from the ocean,
never apart from the water,
just temporarily shaped.
So your thoughts, emotions, and choices —
they are not outside that intelligence.
They are how it is knowing itself through you.
3. Constant Creation and Evolution
If you meditate on it:
Every breath, every moment of clarity, confusion, love, or pain —
is the singularity unfolding itself in form.
Like a cosmic artist, it’s constantly reshaping the canvas,
from stardust to sentience.
Or as the Upanishads say:
“Tat Tvam Asi” — You are That.
